Barbour Offers Free Re-Waxing Service

Barbour Offers Free Re-Waxing Service at the Sir Jackie Stewart Classic at Thirlestane Castle on 18 and 19 June

  • Complimentary re-waxing service for visitors who bring along their Barbour wax jackets to the Barbour stand at The Sir Jackie Stewart Classic
  • Visitors who use the service will be invited to make a donation to Race Against Dementia – global charity launched by Sir Jackie Stewart OBE

British lifestyle clothing brand Barbour will be offering a complimentary re-waxing service on their iconic jackets for any visitors attending the Sir Jackie Stewart Classic at Thirlestane Castle on the weekend of 18 and 19 June.

Visitors are invited to bring along their Barbour wax jackets, limited to one per household, to the Barbour stand located in the sponsor’s trade area in front of the Castle where professional re-waxers from their South Shields customer services team, will be on hand to re-wax jackets during the two days.

A re-wax would normally cost £35 if the jacket was returned to Barbour’s customer services; visitors bringing along their jackets to the event will instead be invited to make a donation to the Race Against Dementia charity.

The Sir Jackie Stewart Classic is being held in aid of Race Against Dementia, a global charity founded by Sir Jackie to raise money for research into prevention and treatment for dementia, a disease that affects 50 million people worldwide including his beloved wife, Helen.

Scotland’s biggest new motoring event is set to be a fantastic family day out with appearances from Sir Jackie and plentiful displays of memorabilia from the three-time F1A Formula 1 Drivers’ World Champion.

Exhilarating live-action, including Red Bull Formula 1 cars sprinting up the Castle’s driveway, will be provided by the Scottish Motor Racing Club and an impressive classic car show featuring more than 1,200 vehicles will be on show from the Borders Vintage Automobile Club.

Elsewhere, the event will showcase the best of Scotland’s culture in the food and retail village, a chance to tuck into the finest Scottish produce, or browse a range of arts and crafts.

If a jacket is re-waxed regularly (at least once a year with frequent use), then it extends the life of the jacket for many years.  This is the most effective way to reduce its impact on the environment.  Full details will be available on the Barbour stand at the event.
